Article: Bangladesh v South Africa 2nd Test
Sometimes a flat, run machine pitch in cricket is called a road but this pitch at Chittagong is not just a road, its the M1, M6 and M42 motorways rolled together !!
At 405-0 overnight, South Africa look like posting a massive total in the first innings and all credit to Smith and McKenzie for this amazing opening stand.
But are South Africa value at the current 1.06 on the exchanges ?? I say definitely not even if they score 1000 runs they still need to bowl Bangladesh out twice and looking at the pitch today, 20 wickets will take a lot of getting. I would not touch this 1.06 on South Africa with a bargepole as a backer, I would however charge at it with two bargepoles as a layer !
I believe the Bangladesh batsmen are more then capable of putting this pitch in context too and am confident that they will also post a massive score in at least one of their innings.
I am not saying South Africa cannot win, of course they can but they are NOT 1.06 shots at this stage. If they skittle Bangladesh out in the first innings I may be convinced but I really dont think that this is a "skittling out" pitch.
There is a very small downside in laying South Africa in this test but a very big upside.
I strongly suggest laying them for 2 pts liability. I believe their price will drift significantly once it becomes clear that this motorway of a pitch will suit the batsmen from BOTH teams and not just the one.
Good Luck.
