Article: England v New Zealand 3rd ODI ... Unfinished Business

e-mail to friend  print this article

In my preview for the last match, I suggested that the Kiwi's needed to change their batting order and selection to include a fifth bowler to get back on track in this series.

They've done both. Marshall was dropped, Taylor batted at no3 and Grant Elliott was bought in to strengthen the bowling.

The improvement was dramatic as Elliot took 3-23 and Taylor gave their innings momentum.

They were on course for a series levelling win before the weather intervened to deny them.

Saturday sees the sides meet at Bristol , and this time I fully expect the Kiwi's to finish the job off.

The current market:

England 1.58

New Zealand 2.66

No more of the 3.1 that was available for last match, but this 2.66 still represents exceptional value.

This game is all about confidence and momentum and the Kiwis will have both in abundance after the last match. Add in the determination they will have to rectify what they saw as an injustice at Edgbaston and we have a side that will be extremely difficult to beat.

I expect both teams to be unchanged for this match, though there is a rumour that Oram may make a surprise comeback. If he does, it can only improve The Kiwi's chances further.

Bristol is normally a high scoring pitch and we could see plenty of runs scored, but again there is a possibility of rain and so conditions could change.

England obviously cannot be written off, however, they have lost three of their last five ODI's at Bristol, its not one of their favourite hunting grounds and I feel the 1.58 on them represents no value at all.

So what the bet?

I said the game at Edgbaston was the last chance saloon for the Kiwis. If they had lost that match the series would have been as good as over.

They did not lose that match, they were denied a match winning opportunity, but most importantly, they showed what they are capable of.

Having found the right formula at last, I am very confident that they will now go on and dominate this series and consider the 2.66 on them as one of the best bets of the weekend.

Therefore I have no hesitation in suggesting:

BACK New Zealand for 4 points@ 2.66 on Betfair

Join me and hopefully this time, the business will be completed.
