Twenty20 Finals Day.... DD Cup?

Some men prefer blondes, others prefer brunettes, me?, at my age, I am not fussy.

But I do have a liking for the fuller figured, well proportioned, top heavy type, especially if they are of the DD Cup variety!

Saturday, at the Rose Bowl in Southampton , sees the climax of this years Twenty20 tournament and I believe that this will also culminate in a DD cup … yes, I believe it will be the Durham Dynamos that prevail.

This years Semi finals have extra spice as the winners will be guaranteed a place in the money spinning champions league where £2.5 M will be up for grabs. Though news in this morning that this has been postponed, possibly to a later date.

Durham are well proportioned side, top heavy with batting with Di Vinito, Mustard, Collingwood, Chanderpaul and other big hitters all the way down to Breeze and Plunkett at no9.

They have an international class bowling attack of Harmisson, Pollock, Plunkett and Collingwood and I believe they have the perfect blend for this format of the game.

They are capable of posting a big score, as well as defending a low score.

They play Middlesex in the 2nd Semi Final and have avoided the big guns of Essex and Kent, who contest the first of the semi finals.

Middlesex are the weakest of the Semi finalists, owing their place here to an amazing innings by Malan in the quarter Final against Lancashire . He rescued them from 21-4 by scoring a match winning century. Middlesex also posses other potential big hitters in Shah, Joyce and Morgan, but against a quality bowling attack of Durham , I think they will struggle to post or chase a significant total.

I am confident that Durham will comfortably beat Middlesex and reach the final, but who will they meet in that final?

Essex v Kent is a mouth watering prospect.. Last years winners against man of the moment Graham Napier and co.

Essex made short work of beating Northants in the quarter finals, winning by 59 runs. The aforementioned Napier along with Bopara, Foster and the spin bowling of Danish Kaneira has seen Eseex cruise through so far. However, their best efforts have come at fortress Chelmsford with its short boundaries, fast outfield and a spinning track. I believe away from their fortress they are vulnerable and I think Kent could scrape past them this time.

Main men for Kent are Denly, Kemp and skipper Rob Key. They will have sweet memories of winning this tournament last year and I expect them to reach the final again.

A downside for Kent and Essex playing in the first semi final is that they will have a break of 5 hours between the semi and the final. They will have to start again, prepare mentally again whereas Durham will still be “in the zone” having completed their semi final only an hour before the final.

Of all the teams, its Durham Dynamos that have the perfect balance between bat and ball, they have the experienced international players used to playing high pressure games and I believe they are by far the most likely overall winners

Therefore my strong suggested bet in the outright win market is:

BACK Durham Dynamos for 4 points to win outright @ 3.25 at Corals

Join me and we could all be celebrating Collingwood and co uplifting the DD cup!
