This Week's Rugby League - Part Two

Dewsbury v Rochdale

23rd August 15:00 BST

Dewsbury, already with the title in the bag, have set themselves the target of going through the season unbeaten and I can't see Rochdale containing the juggernaut. Dewsbury are a class above anything in this division and here they face one of the weaker outfits. They have been able to comfortably beat this handicap mark against the second in the table, Keighley, so should have no fear from Dale.

Rochdale can't wait for the season to end. Thrown in to administration before the season started, it's just been one long struggle. Injuries are catching up with the side and they are far from full strength. Keighley had a comfortable victory at Spotland last weekend and I don't believe Dale have the armoury or the will to compete with even better opponents. I can see a margin in the 40s, so I'm delighted to help myself to -32.

Pick: Dewsbury -32 3pts @ 1.91 with Skybet

Workington v Blackpool

23rd August 15:00 BST

Workington have shown some signs of improvement since they departed company with coach Dave Rotherham and there now at least seems to be a bit of spirit in the team. Since Gary Charlton took the reins they have at least managed handicap wins and they put in a fine performance before just being edged out in their last home encounter with Keighley.

Blackpool have improved this season but they still remain a run of the mill Championship One side. Sure, they are capable of victory and they are also capable of covering the spread but I see a fairly competitive game on the horizon and the 16pts buffer on offer is not to be sniffed at. I had Blackpool by 8pts.

Pick: Workington +16 3pts @ 1.91 with Stan James

Oldham v York

;

23rd August 15:00 BST

Oldham have been hit with departures of their leading players as arguments between the ownership and boardroom have spilled over. However, they still have a core of a team tried and tested at this level and have a fairly decent record at home.

York, themselves, have had disruptions as over-exuberance at a function led to coach Paul March departing the club. They seem to have steadied the ship but I don't have much at all between the sides and it’s merely a question of giving Oldham some sort of advantage for being at home. I had them by 6pts and I confess it isn't my most confident wager of the summer but all the same its one I'm going to place.

Pick: Oldham -2 2pts @ 1.91 with Bet365 or Skybet
