We reach the play-off stage for Super League clubs and I guess all the form is out there in the public domain. Everyone has had 27 rounds to formulate an opinion and unfortunately this weekend sees my view in agreement with the layers. Some people will no doubt be desperate for a bet, it's the play-offs and all the games are televised after all, but if you want to win at this gambling game you've got to resist. Backing what you fancy isn't the road to riches, it's backing when the prices are wrong or in the case of rugby when the handicaps are wrong, in your opinion.

That's not to say I won't be playing. Even when you agree with the handicaps we now have the exchanges where you can compensate by laying at poor prices or backing at good ones. You might think a handicap is spot on but if you can lay either team at 1.9 or back them at 2.1 there's still money to be made in the long run. I'll be covering every market on Betfair and all my odds are derived from the handicaps I set. If my bets get matched they get matched, if they don't they don't but with providing liquidity for the other markets like HTFT and margin I think I am pretty much guaranteed to have an interest in every game.
 
Any serious punter really must have the exchanges in their armoury not least because it is really difficult to get a decent sized wager on with the bookmakers once you've shown an aptitude for winning a little or even just taking best prices.
