I was in the process of writing an article about the price on offer from Betfred on the match odds line which was as high as 1.2. This was too high for me in comparison to my own tissue. I had Leigh as 16pt favourites which relates to a match odds price of 1.1 as a layer. It was hard to understand their price given that 1.2 relates to a handicap of 12pts when their own handicap line was 14pts.

The article was going to recommend a strong wager and I have duly placed a bet at the prices. Unfortunately, one click later and they have slashed the price to 1.12 which is a lot more realistic. Sorry, I've ruined by own article but I hope you understand that I do bet my own fancies and I've got kids to feed!

Perhaps the reason for the inflated price was Dewsbury's competitive performance at Barrow last weekend. However, it was very much a case of after the lord mayor's show for Barrow after their fantastic win at Castleford in the cup. The ball retention from the Barrow team, coupled with a lack of desire in defence, caused a flattering score-line for the visitors, but you still got the impression that on another day Barrow could have scored at will.

Results wise Leigh have performed at a similar level to Barrow and the addition of Ian Millward as coach has again changed their fortunes. They have beaten better teams than Dewsbury by a wide margin and it wouldn't surprise me if this was a blowout.

Leigh are unbeaten whilst Dewsbury have yet to post a victory as they try to come to terms with the higher division. With a lot of injuries Dewsbury haven't adjusted well and the big home defeat to fellow strugglers Keighley suggests it will be a long season.

I see a comfortable victory for Leigh. The margin will have some debate. It could be a really big score or Dewsbury could keep in touch for a bonus point and I can't really argue with the handicap lines on offer.
The exchanges have offered a 12.5pt handicap line which is lower than what is on offer in the high street so I have a price in trying to tempt Dewsbury backers at odds against. I would have played a 12pt line with the bookmakers. I also have a price in for Leigh but it is a low one (1.53) and I'd be content laying a line I don't like at such a poor price.
