Article: Rugby League 28 - Late News
Leeds -18 v Castleford 3pts@1.91 Bet365,
I managed to get a small amount of the -16 handicap yesterday but unfortunately that's gone as I type. The advantages of compiling your own handicap tissue is that you can immediately strike a wager when you see a difference. Getting the best handicaps and prices could be the difference you need for a profitable season. The handicap is now -18 best but I still would have played at this figure, hence the recommendation.
Castleford seem to have got to grips to a degree with Super League and they have recorded some decent wins in recent weeks. However, going to Headingley is a massive step up. When Cas went to St.Helens they leaked over 60pts and looked like boys against men. Physically I don't feel Cas have it in them to hold a Rhinos side. Leeds have been patchy recently but I expect them to put a run together with the play-offs looming and with Webb, McGuire and Burrow they have strike players that Cas won't contain. I had this as Leeds by 24.
Halifax scratch v Celtic 2pts@1.91 with Totesport
I have these two teams as more or less equal in ability so I was expecting Celtic to receive the start by virtue of being the away side. Halifax aren't quite hitting the heights of mid season and they have had some injuries to blame for that but even so I expected them to be favs. Celtic's away form is patchy and their last two road games have resulted in defeats to Batley and Featherstone, hardly inspiring. I Had Fax by 6.
Rochdale -16 v London Skolars 3pts@1.91 with Totesport
Rochdale have been revitalised as we get to the business end of the season. Big wins aplenty in their last four games including matches against promotion contenders Barrow and Doncaster. The Skolars won't provide as stiff a test as those two and I expect the points to continue to flow. Skolars can be a difficult team to read as their personnel changes so often but there is nothing in their results which suggests that they will shock Rochdale. Their recent wins have been over poor teams Hunslet and Swinton whilst they have suffered numerous big road defeats. I had this as Rochdale by 22-24pts
Oldham -12 v Swinton 3pts@1.91 with Totesport
Oldham need to win to have any hope of automatic promotion and this match will become juicier if Barrow slip up in the Friday fixture. In any case I have Oldham as far superior to Swinton. Whenever Swinton face a play-off team they ship a lot of points with their three recent games versus Rochdale, York and Keighley conceding 50, 66 and 40 respectively. In a nutshell they simply can't defend and Oldham should have little problem crossing the whitewash. Oldham have also used Swinton's ground for a few home fixtures with Boundary Park being unavailable so the normal points advantage for playing at home is negated to a degree here. I had Oldham by 18pts.
