LAST WEEK RECAP
. INTER MILAN v CSKA MOSCOW – INTER (-1 MATCH HANDICAP). Inter had a host of chances to kill the tie but had to settle for a 1-0 win. 2.50 points lost for the Golden Nuggets.
. HAMBURG v STANDARD LIEGE – HAMBURG (-1 ASIAN HANDICAP). Hamburg were unable to take a commanding lead to Belgium for the second leg, winning 2-1. Void bet.
. BURNLEY v MANCHESTER CITY – MANCHESTER CITY. Too easy. Manchester City scored three in the first seven minutes as they cantered to a 6-1 win. 3.00 points gained for the Golden Nuggets.
. SERIE A – INTER MILAN. Inter remain top of Serie A after a 3-0 home win against Bologna.
. TRAPDOOR SPECIAL – SELL @ 87. Portsmouth survived a number of near misses to take a point at home to Blackburn. Burnley were destroyed at home to Manchester City. The other three main relegation candidates (Hull, West Ham and Wigan) managed only one point between them.
THIS WEEK’S NUGGETS
Norwich v Stockport

Monday April 5th 15.00 (GMT)
A Bank Holiday hammering is on the cards at Carrow Road. The best team in the league play host to the worst team in the league and we’ll be backing the Canaries on the match handicap. Norwich are almost certain to gain promotion as champions and will relish the visit of the basement boys. Paul Lambert’s side will be keen to get back to winning ways after going down 3-1 at Tranmere last Friday. That defeat came courtesy of some atrocious officiating, and even though Norwich trailed 3-0 and were down to ten men, they put on a pretty decent showing. Stockport’s relegation could be confirmed after what is expected to be a heavy defeat.
PICK: 5*NORWICH (-1) BEAT STOCKPORT @ 1.62 (
Manchester United v Bayern Munich

Wednesday April 7th 19.45 (GMT)
ITV1 (19:30-22:00), RTE Two (19:00-22:00)
How on earth have Bet 365 come up with this price? Last week Bayern fought to till the last seconds to beat Manchester United 2-1 in the first leg, and now they travel to Old Trafford boosted by the likely return of Arjen Robben and the return from suspension of Bastian Schweinsteiger. Not to mention they’ll have Mario Gomez available for ninety minutes rather than twenty. Oh and Wayne Rooney is out. Manchester United’s main source of goals tweaked ankle ligaments at the end of the first leg and his absence for around 2-3 weeks looks set to cost Alex Ferguson’s side dearly.
This is just another in a long line of instances where English club sides have been made stronger favourites than they really deserve to be. The Golden Nuggets will back Bayern on the Asian Handicap, meaning the bet will be void if they lose by a goal. The Golden Nuggets will also profit should Bayern make it through to the last four, as we backed them to qualify from the tie before the first leg.
PICK: 5*(ASIAN HANDICAP) BAYERN MUNICH (+1) BEAT MANCHESTER UNITED @ 1.64 (BET 365)
Palermo v Chievo

Sunday April 11th 14.00 (GMT)
Palermo have been outstanding at home this season and will need to continue that run if they are to clinch fourth spot and the chance to play in next season’s Champions League. Palermo are currently tied on points with Sampdoria, with Napoli and Juventus also on their trail. The Sicilians home record stands at 11-5-0 (wins/losses/draws) and Chievo – who have only managed eleven goals on their travels – will struggle to trouble a Palermo defence that has only conceded eleven times at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.
PICK: 4*PALERMO BEAT CHIEVO @ 1.50 (BWIN)
PICTURE OF THE WEEK
This week’s POW is Argentinean model Evangelina Anderson. The former dancer is married to Argentina and Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis. The die-hard Chacarita Juniors has been known to have a very up and down marriage, with her personal life a daily feature in the Argentine tabloid press. She’s like a better looking and less annoying Jordan.
