The Overrule: Wimbledon Women's Quarter Finals

By Sports Magician

Only eight women remain in the race to be crowned the 2010 Wimbledon champion and few would bet against yet another all-Williams final. The Overrule tipped that exact selection prior to the tournament along with the one genuine threat to the Williams' domination on grass - Maria Sharapova. Serena Williams won a crucial opening set tie-break against the Russian and was able to prevail in two very closely fought sets. It's a shame both players had to meet so early in the tournament.

Kim Clijsters won the battle of Belgium against Justine Henin, beating Henin for the third time this season. Once again, it required three sets to complete the job, although this time it was Clijsters who had to come from behind. Vera Zvonareva is up next and the Russian is overpriced despite an awful head to head with tennis's MILF. Clijsters has won all five meetings with Zvonareva, but they haven't met since 2006, and Vera is a far better and more mature player than she was back then. She still has the odd meltdown, but long gone are the days when she would literally start crying after every point lost.

Petra Kvitova has been in stunning form at Wimbledon, handing out bagels to Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki. Kvitova completely obliterated Caro, who once again, was made to look powder puff and clueless against an opponent willing to take chances and move her from side to side. Wozniacki is great at retrieving, but if her opponent is on fire - as Kvitova was - she is a sitting duck. The Czech beat Kaia Kanepi in a deciding set tie-break this year in Memphis, but if she continues her form she can complete the job in straight sets and reach her first Grand Slam semi-final.
