Unsportsmanlike Conduct - Week Two

By Sports Magician

The first stand out price of the season comes in week two in Cleveland, Ohio. The price on the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Cleveland Browns has been easing out since the lines were released and we will now jump on that opportunity. The Chiefs are in line for a much better season than their fans have had to put up with in recent years. They began the season with a home win against the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football and despite the short week they have the tools to go on the road and start the season 2-0.

The Chiefs have had plenty of high draft picks in recent times that haven’t lived up to the billing, but on Monday night we saw impressive performances from their most recent rookie class and the awakening of classes past. One of the interesting side stories in this match is the return of Romeo Crennel to Cleveland; the Kansas City Chiefs defensive co-ordinator was fired as head coach of the Browns in 2008 after four years. It remains to be seen whether it’s Jake Delhomme or Seneca Wallace who will have to stand up to whatever the Chiefs defense throws at them, but the likelihood appears to be that Wallace will get the start. Delhomme is barely a credible starting quarter-back these days, while Wallace is a career back-up who doesn’t have what it takes to start in the NFL over a series of games.

The last time the two teams met the Browns ran all over the Chiefs. That won’t be happening this time, in fact with Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones in the backfield, it’s likely to be the other way around. Kansas City are the better team in almost every department bar special teams. And with the arrival of Dexter McCluster and Javier Arenas it’s arguable that the Chiefs now have a special teams unit that is on a par, if not better, than what Joshua Cribbs brings to the table for Cleveland in the return game.
