Engage Super League

Harlequins v Hull KR

Sunday 19th April 2009, 15:00 BST

Ladbrokes and Extrabet are a standout on Hull KR this weekend and quite frankly I am at a loss for reasoning behind this. Both of these teams have made very encouraging starts to the 2009 Super League season but there is a little bit of a difference in terms of the quality of the opposition that the sides have despatched; Harlequins have not gained a significant scalp yet this season as they have mainly beaten teams either low in overall quality or out of form whereas Hull KR have gained an incredible win at St Helens and recently claimed another Hull derby victory at the KC stadium. If you ask me who is the more likely play off candidate of the two, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hull KR.

In terms of team news Harlequins should be pretty much at full strength with the exception of Joe Mbu and Hull KR will be without Nick Fozzard and Rhys Lovegrove. The lack of Fozzard in the Rovers team will encourage Quins no doubt but there is still enough quality within the ranks to see off the London team.

Engage Super League Table

  Team P W D L F A PTS
1 St Helens 9 8 0 1 241 122 16
2 Leeds 10 7 0 3 239 130 14
3 Huddersfield 10 7 0 3 232 157 14
4 Wakefield 10 7 0 3 239 181 14
5 Castleford 9 6 0 3 217 183 12
6 Hull KR 9 5 1 3 208 167 11
7 Harlequins RL 8 5 0 3 230 162 10
8 Hull 10 5 0 5 214 210 10
9 Catalans Dragons 10 4 0 6 236 258 8
10 Wigan 10 3 0 7 198 213 6
11 Warrington 10 3 0 7 209 296 6
12 Salford 10 3 0 7 162 343 6
13 Bradford 9 2 1 6 169 249 5
14 Celtic Crusaders 8 0 0 8 110 233 0

The difference in quality of personnel is slightly in the favour of Rovers, the teams both have capabilities of over-achieving and there is obviously going to be a bit of home advantage to Quins. I make the 100% pricing around the 1.8 Home, 2.25 Away region and therefore see Ladbrokes and Extrabet's offering of 2.38 on Hull KR as being significantly enough out of lane and is in my opinion a terrific value bet.

Watch out for try machine Peter Fox who will no doubt have hopes of continuing his rich vein of scoring form and stay at the top of the try scorers chart. I'd like to have a dabble on him to score anytime but cannot see value in the 1.91 available in what could be a fairly closely fought encounter.

RECOMMENDATION - 2 Points on Hull KR 2.38 Ladbrokes, "Extrabet "
