Having been trawling through the odds for tonights fixtures I spotted this potential gem.
Now don't get me wrong, I love Randy Johnson. He has been brilliant for baseball and one of the greatest pitchers of the modern era but lets face it, he really is getting on a bit right now.
At 44, the 'Big unit' is really excelling himself to keep his era close to the four mark and he has a winning record mainly due to the runs support he was getting at the start of the season whent he D-Backs were on a hot streak and walking the division.
Opposing him tonight is one of the best young pitchers in baseball right now. Ubaldo Jimenez had a bit of a nightmare start to the season in terms of his win-loss record but he has pulled things right back and is looking every bit like a potential future ace in the line-up. With a good ability to get strikeouts and a very cool approach at the mound, Jimenez is destined for greater things it seems.
The big question really is who will support with runs. If both hitting units hit top form then the Rockies win every time because they have a better set of batters that can combine hitting for bases, stealing bases and hitting deep. The D-Backs have two really power players in new signing Adam Dunn and Mark Reynolds but it is difficult to trust the offensive side. It is as a pitching unit that the D-Backs are excellent but Johnson is one of their weak-links unfortunately whereas Jimenez simply isn't.
I like the price of the very generous1.81 available on Colorado at home with a pitcher in better touch and a better hitting unit. I had this one down as a price in the region of 1.66.
