MLB MIDWEEK MAJORS
 
On a full card, the match I want you to mainly follow is high flying LA Angels playing in Miami against the team that will just not go away, The Tampa Bay Rays. The other match of interest is where the Colorado Rockies play at the LA Dodgers.
 
LOS ANGELES ANGELS (Weaver 10-9, 4.47) @ TAMPA BAY RAYS (Garza 10-7, 3.63)

Two disciplined units are battling against each other here. The Angels have pretty much sewn up AL West, and the Rays are looking more and more likely to take AL East glory. With two terrific young pitchers competing against each other here we should have a terrific contest.
 
With arguably the best pitching staff in the majors, the Angels also have some huge bats to back them up. Mark Teixeira and Vladimir Guerrero are probably the two most prolific in terms of deep hitting. It is very difficult to pick holes in their line up, yet so far the Rays have held all the cards in this series. This is something I find difficult to fathom and should certainly be rectified tonight.
 
Jered Weaver is a proven class act that has a real knack for working batters over and striking them out. Tonight I expect him to restrict this Rays unit to no more than four runs(assuming he doesn't complete the game). Any more would be a major surprise. He was got at by the Yankees twice recently but with their legendary hitters that can happen.
 
Giving favouritism to a team that is playing against the best all-round team in baseball, that has the best away record in baseball and has a class act taking to the mound is very silly. Take advantage and back the Angels.

COLORADO ROCKIES (Francis 3-8, 5.74) @ LA DODGERS (Billingsley 12-9, 3.10)

The Rockies seem to just keep bouncing back every time we think they are dead and buried. Having now won four in a row now including an offensive filled 8-3 win at Dodger stadium in the present series, the Roxlook to be on a march again. Will it be another false dawn?
 
Well quite simply I think merely from a minor speculation point of view it is worth a little dabble on the guys from the mountains to make life a little uncomfortable for Manny Ramirez driven LA.
 
With Holliday, Hawpe and Stewart amongst the hitting staff this team should never be placed on the market at a quite frankly insulting 2.85. Especially when last seasons ace takes to the mound for them.
