MIDWEEK MAJORS

This card does not really jump out to me as a particularly good on this occasion and therefore there is only one match that I would like to make recommendations on, this is the Red Sox playing the second game of a series at the Yankees.

BOSTON RED SOX (Byrd 8-11, 4.61) @ NEW YORK YANKEES (Ponson 7-4, 4.67)

Having taken the opener last night on the back of a solid start from knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, the Red Sox will no doubt fancy their chances again tonight. The offense seemed to click into gear at vital times but the truth of the matter is that they were given walks by Andy Pettitte at key times and it was the wayward pitching which helped them along. The Yankees wasted several scoring opportunities and to be frank it was pretty amazing that they only scored three runs. Tonight should be a little different.
With this match being a do or die encounter for the Yankees against their bitter rivals, I expect them to rise to the occasion. It is difficult to imagine the Yankees stranding ten or more again, the offense will hold the key. If Sidney Ponson can provide at least six decent innings (say only conceding 2/3 runs) then the hitters should do the rest.
With Mike Lowell and JD Drew missing from the line up it makes last nights victory all the more impressive. So hats off to Boston for helping push the Yankees price up.

I like the Yankees in the outright market and also in the highest scoring innings market. Another bet of interest is the total runs market, and it is over 10.5 which appeals greatly given that I could see either pitcher finishing quite early and exposing the bullpen if either / both offense click.
