WIGAN ATHLETIC V MANCHESTER CITY
16:00 BST - Sunday 28th September 2008

With all of the hype surrounding City it is going to regularly hamper the betting markets for their matches, often rendering them unbackable.
Away from home and playing against a solid Wigan side, City are a best priced 2.4 with the traditional bookies and 2.52 high amongst the exchanges making them jollies for the match. For a team with such a poor away record this is nothing short of laughable.

Expect Wigan to make life very difficult for the team in sky blue by adopting a few rough tactics perhaps and sticking very close to the star of the show, Robinho. I'm pretty sure the other Brazillian's Jo and Elano will hardly be keen for a physical encounter either.

With Emile Heskey as the main target man and feeder, he could be an excellent foil for the quite brilliant Egyptian Amr Zaki. I remember watching Zaki during the African Nations Cup and wondering if any Premiership team would be brave enough to take a punt. Steve Bruce obviously thought he was worth it.
I am not a brave enough man to pick Wigan to win this contest because I am respectful of City's quality but I would like to keep the draw on my side.

RECOMMENDATION - 3 Points Liability Lay of Man City @ 2.46 (Betfair )

SWINDON TOWN V MILLWALL
14:00 BST - Sunday 28th September 2008

Despite being considered by many respected football writers as a possible relegation outfit, Millwall were one of my outside picks for promotion this season and are not letting me down so far.

Having now won four league games on the spin and having not lost in the league since the opening day of the season when they managed to squander a 3-1 lead at joint leaders Oldham, they are one of the form teams of the division. They have a chance to go as high as third today with a win by more than a single goal.

Swindon Town are very much what I would call a League One team which may me across as a little disrespectful but it isn't mean to be. When I say this, what I mean really is that they are likely to be too good for relegation from the division and that I cannot realistically see them troubling anyone in the promotion race. A terrific season for them would see them in the hunt for the play-offs but I can't see it.

Millwall caused a huge shock by winning away from home at Leicester just over a fortnight ago and they did so by adopting a very physical approach which seemed to really unsettle one of the jollies of the division. It is just that very brand of football which will be awful from a spectator's point of view and will be a nightmare for opposition teams that will reap plenty of points this year.

The minus point for the Lions is that Tresor Kandol is missing for suspension but a plus point is that Jermaine Easter can come in and fill his boots having made an emergency loan switch.

In my opinion a price of 3 is terrific value on Millwall and should be snapped up.

RECOMMENDATION - 2 Points on Millwall @ 3 (Bet365)
