Article: 19:45 Romford
By Romford Raider
Tonight see's the final of the Coral Puppy Cup from Romford and after we had last year's winner in Confident Kermit, this year seems to be a two dog race between Nick Savva's Westmead Carl (T1) and Tony Collett's Lenson Bolt (T6) and slight favour may be made for the well drawn railer, but a no play race for me.
My selection tonight comes in the 19:45 in the form of Danny O'Riordan's RIO SANZIO. The Racing Post has put the selection in at 3.75 but I can assure you it be nowhere near this price. Knowing Tony Bullen the Racing Post correspondent father Tony Snr is very good friends with Danny and is seems as he's trying persuade the Romford Bookmakers to price the selection up a nice price. My tissue is 2.25 at very best but really is an Evens shot against this field and could be even shorter.
Rio Sanzio has been off the track since July but I know for a fact he has had a few spins at the Ockendon schooling track in recent weeks so his fitness will be at a premium and his recent Romford trial of 24.18 (3.66 sect) shows the capabilities of the dog.
Connections have thought highly of RIO SANZIO and let’s hope fingers crossed the greyhound can fulfil he true potential.
It's a very poor maiden race and Trap 1 Comeragh Ranger is the main danger and has a very slick 25.51 Peterborough run on its card but the lack of a run over C&D may prove its undoing and may see him move off at the first corner.
I expect RIO SANZIO the ping from the magic 3 box and make all.
