A belated happy new year from the Romford Raider and let's hope this year will be as successful as the last.

Bets at Romford have been hard to come by, this is due to the winter going and on many occasions in the past two months many tracks have had a bias towards the rails or wide runners in which I’m not prepared to put up any selections so early into the day only to come unstuck.
 
Back to important matters and tonight at Wimbledon which see's the final of the William Hill Springbok for the novice hurdlers in I must say is the poorest final for years and any one of the 6 runners can win.
 
I don't like to post away from Romford but tonight I have a maximum lay for a runner that will be well fancied.
 
Ardbeg Kate who runs in the 20:00 from Trap 1 has been off the card since the middle of December returns to the scene of her last victory where she also broke the track record.
 
I know for a fact she has been struggling with a few niggles and had only been given the green light a few weeks ago to resume training. In putting her up as a maximum lay I feel the following criteria will be against her.
 
1. Even though she is seeded rails and won out of the red jacket she is a bang middle runner and will move off from trap rise. Freedom Emma the trap 2 runner is also a middle runner so the draw may look an advantage. IT'S NOT!
 
2. She will need the run, the long layoff wouldn't have helped and not much could have been done with her since been given the green light to resume training, I still feel she needed more time off for the injury she had. (A ligament injury I believe in the stifle area)
 
3. The latest trial of 27.97 is no slouch time by any means but this showed to me she needed to blow out and will need a few more races to reach her peak.
 
4. The race is full of some good sorts being Trap 2 Freedom Emma, Trap 4 Slick Sioux and Trap 5 Klockwork Kyla and I wouldn't want to be backing Kate at 3.0 against runners who have been kept in work over the winter period.
 
It is a very hard race to call the winner I like the makeup of the Trap 4 runner Slick Sioux but the sensible tip is to take Kate on with the 5 other runners.
