Tonight we see the final of the Coral Essex Vase over 575m live on Sky Sports.

The card itself is quite poor. A few may disagree with me but I really was expecting some better class greyhounds on show. I have a couple of dogs I'm monitoring but the going will play a big part so it would be easier as a watching spectacle for these.
 
Those looking to get involved may want to leave backing their selections to the last possible moment. The going at Romford has been very up and down and the heavily sorted track as played its part to some very strange results over the past 10 days. I have no doubt the meeting will go ahead despite heavy snow but to what extent?
 
I think it could well be a graveyard for favourites tonight, as most of them seem to have drawn the red box.
 
Can't put up any backs tonight but I'm going to put up a rare lay and that is in the Essex Vase Final.
 
Trap 6 Centurion Envy is the pre race favourite with most firms after a very quick 35.19 (-20) in the semi finals in a race where everything fell into place for him. A greyhound who has never really been in love with Romford could well find himself afloat in the early stages with the pace coming from any one of 3 runners. I'm expecting Trap 3 Judical Pause to run a big race and his price of 8.0 with bet365 should be truly noted. With the potential Trap 6 draw of will be a hindrance and will move middle from trap rise he will have to secure a clean run round the first 2 bends which is hard to see, if he does manage to do that he then have to pass the front runners who will be stopping and will find the usual trouble he manages to get himself into.
 
A lay for a full liability of 5pts is recommended.
