Monday's Racing

Well here we go the first day of the column and though the racing is hardly inspiring we go to Plumpton for two horses I'm hoping will get us off to a flyer.

We start with the first race the 13:40 which is a virtual match between Hunterview and Salden Licht . They both ran at Newbury last time with Salden Licht winning and Hunterview finishing a close second . The races looked similar in terms of time and quality and today Salden Licht has to give weight to Hunterview who I think may be heavily supported to take this. I can't get out of my head how well Salden Licht quickened at the end of his race though and I am confident he can give weight and a beating to Hunterview.

Next is the 15:10 at Plumpton a shocker of a race with only one progressive horse  Carrickmines for Dr Newland who must be one of the most talented handlers to emerge over the last five years. The horse's winning run came to end last time when in a stronger race than this he was ridden too aggressively on desperate ground. For this reason I think he is a value bet today to get back to winning ways he will be in front out of trouble and should have too much basic speed for this lot.

Please do not miss this weeks golf where I will be previewing and giving selections for the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship on the European tour. This is the beginning of the Middle East swing when some of the big names start coming out to play. It should be a fascinating tournament lets hope we can find the winner!
