Abu Dhabi Golf Championship

By Profit Swing

This week marks the start of the Middle East Swing on the European tour and if there is an economic downturn no one has mentioned it to European golf with prize money increases everywhere you look on this leg of the tour. With the Tiger in hiding and eight of the world’s top fourteen here in Abu Dhabi you could say this is now the leading tour but we will save that argument for another day. It is a stellar field headed by Geoff Ogilvy and Lee Westwood and we are sure to see a low score take this. With that in mind we are looking for a desert specialist who can go consistently low and to the best of our knowledge is in form.

Step forward our number one pick Ross Mcgowan. Ross is on the way to be in the top twenty in the world by the end of this year and was second only to Westwood in the race to Dubai event that ended last year (showing his liking for desert golf) yet is twelve times the price. We are not going to miss this fantastic putter in the form of his life; the value will be going from this man very soon I assure you. We have to be on players that the bookies underrate and we will be!

Number two pick is Henrik Stenson the reigning Player's Champion lives in nearby Dubai and after losing most of his fortune in an investment scandal I understand has been practising in the desert every day for five weeks a huge advantage against many home based players who will have struggled in the recent climate. Stenson lacks the consistency of earlier years but when hot is one of the most talented players in the world. I strongly believe he will go close this week.

Our final bet is Louis Oosthuizen. Remember we want in an form desert specialist capable of going low step forward this guy, played well without challenging in the recent tournaments in his native South Africa but he much prefers the lightning fast greens he will face this week and is ready to step up and win a top event this year, lets hope it is this week.

Picks:

Ross Mcgowan 1pt e/w 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 - 67.0 - Sky Bet

Henrick Stenson 1pt win - 17.0 - Paddy Power

Louis Oosthuizen 1pt e/w 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 - 51.0 - Bet365

Please look out for Saturday night where I will decide whether we will be entering the in running market for the last round, good luck everyone and enjoy the golf!
