Article: The Haydock Card
The Haydock Card
Profit SwingHaydock stages a superb card today and we have three strong bets plus I will give you my view on the other races.
Our first bet goes in the first race the 13:10 and is a maximum five point bet Peddlers Cross, this horse is the apple of Donald McCain's eye and could be something very special. He won a bumper on this track in similar ground two starts ago and the prescience of Nicky Henderson’s Radium is giving us a price.
Pick: 5 points win
Peddlers Cross 2.2 Bet 365 (Best odds guaranteed)The 13:45 will be a brutal slog over three and a half miles though wouldn't be a betting race for me but my selection would be the Charlie Mann trained Tarquinus a dour stayer with a tendency to make mistakes which tempers confidence !!
Our second strong bet runs in the next race the 14:20 and sees the chasing debut of Diamond Harry , I understand he has schooled brilliantly and we know he likes this track and ground so is a maximum bet as I feel he will canter round on the bridle against these opponents
Pick: 5 points win
Diamond Harry 1.91 Sky Bet & SportingbetThe next race is the champion hurdle trial which should see Punjabi win but concerns about his ability in the ground mean we cannot support him at odds on , one to sit back and enjoy I wouldn't rule out Cape Tribulation on this ground though.
Our final selection runs in the Peter Marsh chase at 15:30 and is the Donald McCain stalwart Cloudy Lane. Everything has come right for this horse and I think it is a weak race where he will be up to carrying the weight on a track he loves. He is as good as ever at home and the trainer is toying with running him in the gold cup if it came up soft before another tilt at the national however today is his day.
Pick: 2.5 ew
Cloudy Lane 1/4 1,2,3 7.5 Bet 365 (Best odds guaranteed)The last race is the 16:00 the fixed brush hurdle. More and more trainers are seeing the value in running future chasers over these intermediary obstacles and there is a big word for Noel Chance's Fabulous Fred so keep an eye on him if you are playing in the lucky last.
It should be a good day at Haydock let’s hope we are on three winners to make it a great day!
