The Premier League Darts - Ante Post

By Profit Swing

The Premier League begins next week and I feel there are two outstanding wagers to be had in the Ante Post market. This really is the greatest darts show on earth which begins at the O2 Arena on February 11, yes the O2 Arena and touring big arenas every week. Sky have shown their hand by giving wild card picks to Whitlock and Adrian Jackpot Lewis. I bet Barry Hearn wishes he had given the second to bad boy Paul Nicholson who took the players title last Sunday beating Phil Taylor along the way but its too late now!

Many will be lumping on Taylor but I feel we can get some really good value opposing him this year, remember winning the league format just gets you into final's night and really counts for nothing as the Power found out when getting beaten in the semis to King last year. Lots of big bets at 1.3 were left in the bookies coffers there. We will play two against the field each way.

Firstly Mervyn King last year's beaten finalist. Beating Taylor in the semis was a big boost for King's confidence and he is now playing as well as ever since joining the PDC. He will want to go one better this year and is a reliable scorer week in week out who will lose the odd match but I think will comfortably make finals night.

Pick: Mervyn King 1.5pts EW 1/3 1,2 19.0 Paddy Power

Second selection is the wizard Simon Whitlock who is making his debut in the Premier League. This fact is leading many pundits and tipsters to oppose him because they think his nerve will not hold. I feel just the opposite, he loved the big stage at the Ally Pally and raised his game. This guy is a brutal scorer in short format darts and takes out big finishes which you need to break the throw and avoid drawn games. He plays Taylor on opening night and if he were to win, these odds would vanish quicker than Michael Van Gerwin's hair.  If he gets beat it will not affect his chances of being in the top four much as Taylor will win nearly every week.

Pick: Whitlock 1pt EW 1/3 1,2 17.0 Betfred

With Wade becoming unpredictable and Barneveld making comments that he is losing interest I feel we are on the right two to bustle up Phil Taylor and claim the Premier League. We are in for some great entertainment, Enjoy
