Saturday's Racing Selections
By Profit SwingForget the usual hype, today is a great days racing. The mighty Denman will surely land the Aon Chase at Newbury in what should be little more than an exercise canter. Ruby Walsh will look on in envy as AP gets his first ride on Denman but Ruby has made his choice for the Gold Cup and will have to live with it. For what its worth I would have left Sam Thomas on Denman, he did win them a gold cup after all!
Our first selection is in the 14:00 at Newbury and is the Philip Hobbs trained Triggerman who was fourth in a muddling affair last time out. He is much better than that and should love the track, the trip and the ground. The favourite Alfie Sherrin looked ill at ease to me on similar ground at Chepstow in November and is surely priced on reputation and connections today. Triggerman is consistent and I think will go very close today.
Pick: 14:00 Newbury
Triggerman 1.5 EW 1/4 1,2,3,4 11.0 Stan JamesAt 15:05 we have the Totesport Trophy, the richest Handicap Hurdle and a devilishly difficult puzzle to solve. I think the answers may lie away from the favourites. I really like the look of Fairyland the Henderson trained second string. I never worry about backing second strings from this yard. He won the Gerry Fielden on similar ground last time out and looks a much stronger more mature horse this season. I think it is a huge price today as the horse ticks a lot of boxes.
Pick: 15:05 Newbury
Fairyland 1.5 EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 21.0 Bet365 (Best odds guaranteed)We will have one more bet in the race and that is on European Dream from the massively in form Richard Guest yard. This would be a career best effort but hopefully a fast pace will see him stay on through tiring horses to get involved in the finish. I know that he is very well and the yard are hopeful of a big run.
Pick: 15:05 Newbury
European Dream 0.5 EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 51.0 Bet365 (Best odds guaranteed)Our final selection is in the bumper at 16:45. This is a highly competitive bumper that has been won by superstars like Iris Gift in the past. I think there is a potential superstar in the making in this race and that is Dragon's Roost from Gary Moor's yard. He won a good bumper on similar ground here and has thrived since. The yard feel this horse could be anything and though he faces a stiff teat today they feel he is up to it.
Pick: 16:45 Newbury
Dragon's Roost 3 win 4.3 Bet365 (Best odds guaranteed)Have a great day’s racing everybody
