Article: First Round Golf Multiple
First Round Golf Multiple
By Profit SwingFour first round matches spring out to me today as offering value in a multibet so we will be placing a small Yankee with a decent upside.
Some general advice here is when placing a short price multiple, do a Yankee rather than a lucky fifteen. The lack of singles in a Yankee cuts out a lot of losing bets. Of course where we played a higher priced draw combination bet in last weeks Darts Premier league the lucky fifteen was the play because the one winner was a real possibility.
Right this is how to play this kind of combination. We have lots of matches to choose from and we start from the viewpoint that this is an eighteen-hole matchplay where there will be many shocks so we do not want to play the really short favourites.
Instead we look for two solid bankers and two odds against flyers to boost the profits.
Our first solid selection is Quiros to beat Weir; it’s the longest hitter versus the shortest hitter on a long course, simples! Add in that Quiros is in red-hot form and Weirs putting stroke has gone and we have a solid selection.
Our second selection is Karlsson to beat Sabbatini. Again another player in form who hits it a long long way. Sabbatini can also throw the towel in if he goes behind early and I can see that happening today.
Now for the two odds against flyers (don't get too excited they are not that odds against).
Firstly we are taking on last Sunday’s winner for us Dustin Johnson with Camillo Villegas. Dustin went through an extremely draining day on Sunday evening whereas Villegas had a week off as he hates Pro-Ams and Johnson may suffer some emotional let down. In reality I think Villegas is the slightly better player any way and hits it nearly as long as Johnson. Villegas will be well up for this match whereas Johnson's head may still be in Pebble Beach.
Our last selection is ‘Steady Eddie’ Ben Crane to beat the wildly unpredictable Henrik Stenson. I have and more importantly the player himself has no idea which Stenson will turn up today whereas Crane will go round this course in par or slightly under. Recently Stenson has struggled on courses in the Middle East he usually destroys and has missed putt after putt from close range worrying for matchplay!!
A win Yankee staking two points in total.
Picks:
Quiros: 1.66
Karlsson: 1.66
Villegas: 2.10
Crane: 2.62
