Thursday at Cheltenham
By Profit SwingJust to quickly point out no Golf or Darts this week as Cheltenham form study has taken every waking hour this week and I will never post selections without research. However rest assured both sports will return next week so if you have any energy left by 7pm..... cheer on King and Whitlock.
Well Nicky Henderson leads the trainers Title and Ruby and Geraghty are locked together on two winners each in the jockeys so those two bets have real chances now as they have many more good chances. We got Kalahari King and Forpaddy placed and beat Master Minded but sadly only into fourth. As I informed you yesterday morning the Bumper would be staying in England and that Al Ferof was a potential superstar, sadly the Tizzards decided to have the new Dunguib lurking and we came a gallant second with the rest miles back.
Today was always going to be our main day as it contains the two best bets of the meeting the only disappointment is Triggerman is out of the Pertemps Hurdle so all stakes should be returned to you.
13:30 The Jewson Novices Chase
We have Gansey running for us and the latest is that he is in blinding form but Sue Smith would have preferred a bit more juice in the ground but I still feel he will run a massive race. We will supplement him with one further play in the race which is The Midnight Club from the Mullins yard. He won for the first time over fences last time out and is a horse who will love the ground. He looks well overpriced to me as the race in Ireland has thrown up winners.
Pick: 1 Point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4
The Midnight Club 23.0 Stan James14:05 The Pertemps Hurdle
Sadly Triggerman is out and all eyes will be on the Harry Findlay hotpot Alfiesherrin. He may win but is far too short in a difficult renewal. He looks a big powerful horse who will make a great chaser in time but this will be quick and could favour the speedier flat bred types.
The two I like are Ainama and Erzen who both look plotted up by Nicky Henderson for this. Ainama was a useful flat performer for Michael Wigham whilst Erzen was an easy winner of two early season handicaps before getting stuck in the mud in his last two outings. I think the Henderson team can get another winner on the board here.
Pick: 1.5 points EW 1/4 1,2,3,4
Ainama 9.0 Paddy Power (Best odds guaranteed)Pick: 1 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4
Erzen 29.0 Stan James14:40 The Ryanair Chase
My nap of the week Tranquil Sea does act on the ground and is expected to take this. He had the speed to win over two miles last time and there is huge confidence behind him.
15:20 The Stayers Hurdle
Big Bucks has a massive chance but is very short when you consider they are worried by the ground. I suggest a small EW on Time For Rupert from the Paul Webber yard. He is a big price and has a similar profile to Punchestowns who was second last year.
Pick: 1 point EW 1/4 1,2,3
Time For Rupert 21.0 Stan James16:00 The Festival Plate
Watch my Back goes for us here. He is now favourite and there will be no other selections
16:40 The Kim Muir Challenge
An amateur race but I fancy two horses very strongly. They are Shillingstone and Lysander and will both relish the conditions.
Pick: 1.5 points EW 1/4 1,2,3,4
Shillingstone 9.0 Stan JamesPick: 1 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4
Lysander 34.0 Sky Bet (Best odds guaranteed)Good Luck everyone and lets bag some winners
