This Week's Golf

By Profit Swing

Well a frustrating week last week with injuries and the pathetic last round of Thongchai Jaidee but this week brings us two great tournaments to get stuck into. Let's start in Europe at the Spanish Open in Seville.

OPEN DE ESPANA

Seville hosts this year's Spanish Open and my number one pick is local hero Alvaro Quiros who can make hay on the four par fives here. His length is a huge advantage and the two weeks rest he has taken means he has been practicing locally for some time now. This is not the strongest of fields and with a very vocal local support I think the big man can take this title.

Pick: 1.5 points EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 Alvaro Quiros 19.0 Coral

Our second selection is Ignacio Garrido who excels on these types of courses and on Spanish soil. He can go close this week and is a player who if scenting victory can raise his game.

Pick: 1 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 Ignacio Garrido 34.0 Sky Bet

QUAIL HOLLOW CHAMPIONSHIP

Four of the world’s top five tee it up at this long demanding course but we will take them all on as I feel there are good value bets lurking further down. Woods will have to drive well here and his swing looked awful during the weekend at Augusta and I wonder how seriously Mickelson will take any tournament until the US Open now he has another green jacket.

Our number one selection is Nick Watney who played so well at Augusta and who hits the ball miles and has suddenly developed a short game under current coach Butch Harmon. He looks a player at the peak of his form and could go in this week on a long tough course.

Pick: 1 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 Nick Watney 36.0 Boylesports

Our second selection is another long hitter Dustin Johnson who won at Pebble Beach earlier this year and has a decent record in this event. He will be looking to contend as he builds up to the US Open.

Pick: 0.5 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 Dustin Johnson 76.0 Stan James

Rickie Fowler is the new superstar in the making and I also like his chances this week. He is an all action player who can run into trouble but can also go very low.

Pick: 0.5 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 Rickie Fowler 91.0 Bet365

Our final selection is Brian Gay who is playing good golf without contending this year. His price has now drifted and he is simply too big. This is the best putter and chipper on Tour and this is his time of year.

Pick: 0.5 point EW 1/4 1,2,3,4,5 Brian Gay 141.0 Bet365

Both Tournaments are featured extensively on Sky Sports. Let’s let Tiger take all the publicity and we will take the money! Have a great week.
