U.S Open Final Round

By Profit Swing

Well what a Tournament and not without success for us as Molinari lands the maximum match bet as poor old Alvaro missed the cut. Tim Clark lies in joint seventh so we need him to make one place tonight to land the Each Way part of our bet. He is probably two shots too far back to mount a challenge to win but you never know. Tiger Woods and Mickelson have produced the lowest rounds of the week but also played some poor golf. The pressure is on them both to attack tonight as neither is interested in coming second and that might just be their undoing.

We backed Dustin Johnson to win the Pebble Beach pro am in February on the last day and he did but he was far from convincing and needed Paul Goydos to implode to hold on by one. That day Johnson hit one fairway in regulation, if he tightens up like that today he will be lucky to break eighty so I cannot push our luck and put him up again. I have regularly voiced my concerns over Graeme Mcdowell’s ability to turn good play into victories and perversely I think he is better off starting the day three behind than if it were him leading. He will not have had the same pressure in the build up and if Johnson does start to wobble he may be able to convert this. The proximity of Woods, Mickelson and Els has made GMac a value price tonight. The later he can lead the better i.e. with a putt on the eighteenth!

Pick: 2 Win Graeme Mcdowell 6.5 Sky Bet

We will have one more bet today and that is on Gregory Havret who is currently in joint fourth. Havret has battled illness and domestic upheaval this year and I think is dangerous tonight because he can relax more than anybody and could well come under the radar. When Retief Goosen won his first Us Open the American TV company hardly acknowledged his presence and rarely showed a shot. That will be the way with Havret tonight. Two years ago he won the Scottish Open in a shootout with Phil Mickelson so there are no issues with this guy’s bottle. If the top two flop there are very few players who can win this and Havret is simply too big to miss.

Pick: 1 Win Gregory Havret 67.0 Sky Bet

It should be unmissable tonight with  coverage from 8.30 on Sky Sports one, lets cheer our three players on and hope for a European victory!
