Article: NJ's Premier League Opening Weekend
By Nishant Joshi
I'll keep this brief, as I have explained my thoughts on most teams ad nauseam in my league previews. Firstly, it's incredible to see Fulham as outsiders vs Portsmouth. They have steadily been drifting in from 3.1 and are now a best-priced 2.90 with Betsense. It's a price which demands backing, considering the contrasting situations at each club. Admittedly, Fulham's away form has been dire for a few seasons now, but despite not picking up too many wins, they have been fairly solid in defence against teams such as Portsmouth. It would be a fantastic start to the season if Fulham could break their duck here - they won't get a better chance for an away win in a long time, against a rapidly deteriorating Pompey side. Given Fulham's solid defence of last season and relatively frugal attack, I think that it's worth taking a small back-up on 0-0. At the same time, Fulham to win to nil at 5.0 is also worth a shout.
Phil Brown's tanorexic army start off the season at Stamford Bridge, and I expect a nightmare start for Hull. This is another pair of teams headed in opposite directions, and their respective positions after this match should be reflected in the end of season charts - I expect Chelsea to finish top, and Hull to finish rock-bottom. We should take Chelsea on the Asian Handicap here for a comfortable win.
