NJ's Tuesday Premier League Preview

By Nishant Joshi

Man City vs Bolton

9th February 19:45 GMT
Sky Sports 2 (19:30-21:45), Sky Sports HD2 (19:30-21:45)

Owen Coyle's new side have been rocked by the news that Gary Cahill could miss the rest of the season with a blood clot in his arm. He will be a big loss, as Bolton's flagship 'tough' defender. The last meeting between these two sides ended 3-3 in December, but much has changed since then, with new managers for both sides. City are still unbeaten at home in the league, with an 8-3-0 record, and they're justifiably short at 1.44 for the win. Bolton are just one place above the relegation zone and they'd do well to improve on their 2-2-6 away record against Roberto Mancini's side.

Having scored 28 goals in 11 league games at home this season, Man City look decent value at odds-against on the Asian Handicap.

Fulham vs Burnley

9th February 20:00 GMT

Fulham's serious injury list persists, and I doubt that many Burnley fans will be making the long trip down to SW6 for what will likely be a low-scoring, drab affair. Burnley are seriously out of sorts at the moment, and we shouldn't let their weekend win against West Ham mask that they were lucky to hold on at the end. Incredibly, the Lancashire side have a league-low 0-1-11 away record, and you wouldn't back them with counterfeit against a Fulham outfit essentially living off points at home. As I mentioned last week, Fulham have a strange trend of being quite formidable during midweek games, with their win against Portsmouth last week bringing their season record to 7-1-0 under lights this season.

Fulham's 7-2-3 home record remains impressive, and having conceded just 8 goals at Craven Cottage, they're a solid value play in the 'win to nil' market. However, we'll rather hedge our bets and keep our main play on the home win at 1.73, which represents good value against a team who have lost 11 of their 12 away matches. As a general rule, you may have noticed that I tend to shy away from short odds bets, but we shouldn't shy away from value, at any price!

NJ's Bets:

Man City to beat Bolton -1.5 AH - 2.25pts @ 2.22 (Bet365)

Fulham to beat Burnley to nil - 1.5pts @ 2.75 (Bluesq)

Fulham to beat Burnley (match odds) - 4.5pts @ 1.73 (Bet365)
