French Open Tennis - Verdasco vs Almagro
By Nishant JoshiA classic clay court encounter awaits us on Monday, as compatriots Fernando Verdasco and Nicolas Almagro take to Suzanne Lenglen at lunchtime.
On paper, Verdasco should be overwhelming favourite for this match - he leads the H2H 3:0 and hasn't dropped a set against Almagro. All matches have been on clay and include a straight sets victory at this event last year.
Verdasco is simply a better player than Almagro, and I feel that the layers are getting a bit too cute with the murmurs about his potential to be jaded at this stage of the season, having played his fair share of matches so far this year. However, in reality, this should not be as huge a factor as the market makes it out to be.
Ana Ivanovic's ex is available at 1.84 to back on Betfair, which seems like tremendous value. It is clear that Verdasco was underpriced heavily in the last round against Kohlschreiber (1.25 SP), and quite bizarrely, the opposite seems to have happened for this match.
Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth, and we can bet confidently here.
NJ's Bet:
Verdasco to beat Almagro - 4.25pts @ 1.83 (Totesport)
