Germany vs Spain

By Nishant Joshi

Germany have burst into life at this World Cup, after thrashing both England and Argentina in consecutive matches. However, the bookies still don't rate Joachim Loew's side, and have them as outsiders to qualify against Spain.

Spain came into the World Cup as favourites with Brazil, but in my opinion they have lacked a spark to set them alight. David Villa has been outstanding but barring him, they have looked relatively poor in the knock-out stages. The outright failure of Fernando Torres has meant that they have essentially been carrying one deadweight player for the whole tournament, and this has really caused the whole team to suffer. Spain managed dull and unconvincing 1-0 wins over both Portugal and Paraguay, but I think they are ripe for the taking by a German side who could well sweep them aside.
