Article: 1.01 Gubbed by Nishant Joshi
1.01 Triple Threat
In what was a bizarre day last week, three 1.01 shots in the tennis were emphatically shot down in the space of a few hours.
Firstly, Kristian Pless of Denmark raced into a 6-4, 5-1 lead over Russia’s Mikhail Ledovskikh in the first round at Newport, and punter justifiably ploughed into Pless at 1.01. However, the Dane then proceeded to choke as Ledovskikh won the next six games in a row to take the second set, winning 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the end.

GUBBED!
To the first round of Gstaad in Switzerland, where Jiri Vanek led Flavio Cipolla from a set and 3-0 up, before the Czech choked in spectacular fashion. Cipolla couldn’t believe his luck at the end of the match, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

GUBBED!
Finally, it wouldn’t be satisfactory week of gubbings without an involvement from the WTA, where Germany’s Martina Muller crashed out to a qualifier in Veronika Chvojkova. All was going according to plan in the first round of the Gaz de France Grand Prix in Hungary, as Muller went a set and 3-0 up, before choking at the finishing line. Chvojkova emerged victorious; 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
