Pakistan Hammer West Indies

Pakistan were the first side through to the semi-finals of the World Cup this afternoon after they destroyed West Indies by ten wickets Mirpur.

Shahid Afridi's side were fantastic from start to finish and dominated a frail West Indian batting line-up, reducing them to 112 all out. Openers Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez then knocked off the runs in the 21st over and Pakistan will now meet either Australia or India in the semi-final.

As for the West Indies, they will be incredibly disappointed with their showing. This was supposed to be a match between two evenly matched sides, but they collapsed in dramatic fashion, continuing the bad habit from their defeat to England in the final group game.

Darren Sammy's men have now lost their last 14 wickets for just 115 runs. There batsman have not stood up and been counted in this tournament and they cannot complain about being knocked out.

Pakistan go marching on though. They have been the most consistent team in this tournament so far and have been led superbly by the in-form Shahid Afridi who has now taken 21 wickets in the tournament.

Sports betting pundits were not backing Pakistan to win the competition before the tournament began, but they have now made it to the final four and have as good a chance as anyone. They will hope that their best cricket is still to come and they can end what has been a difficult few months for them with a victory in the biggest limited overs tournament of all.

As already mentioned, standing in the way of an appearance in the final for them is Australia or India. This is a game that those placing sports bets are finding tough to call, but Pakistan shouldn't worry about that. Yes, West Indies were poor, but Pakistan were equally as excellent and shouldn't fear anyone.
