Laird Continues Momentum

Martin Laird's strong start to the season has continued this week, with a strong opening round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando. The Scotsman went round in two-under 70, putting himself in a good position to record his fourth top-ten finish of 2011. Laird's round started on the back nine and the 28-year old recovered well from an opening hole bogey, with four birdies.

Laird's preparations for his debut have been going as well as he could have wished for, with a tenth place at the WGC-Cadillac and most recently with his tied fifth place finish at the Transitions Championship last week. While he hasn't yet caused many waves in his appearances at the three other majors, Laird has started his professional career well, picking up three tour titles, the biggest at the Justin Timberlake Open in Las Vegas and those looking to place golf bets should keep an eye on him.

The Scot could well prove to be a surprise package when the world's best tee off at the Masters in two weeks time. Laird's short game is as good as any at the moment and that will be essential if he is going to get on with the Augusta course. The Scot is delighted to have earned his place at the famous tournament and is determined to make the most of his chance.

He said: "The Masters is the only major I've never played in and the one I'm most excited about. I want to try to be as ready as possible for the majors and WGC events. I'd love to get a taste of being around the lead in one of the big ones on a Sunday."
