Mickelson Has The Chance To Show He Is The Best
Having lived in the shadow of Tiger Woods for a large chunk of his career, then being forced to endure the ignominy of seeing the world number one position go to Lee Westwood, a man who has yet to secure victory at a Major event and who was beaten to the crown of Masters champion last year by Mickelson, the chance has finally come for Phil Mickelson to show he is undoubtedly the best golfer in the world. The golf betting makes him among the favourites for the tournament after all. However, with opportunity there also comes great expectation and, despite the fact that Mickelson has that real spark of brilliance (and there is no doubt that Mickelson is brilliant) he knows that the Augusta course is one
on which his nemesis Tiger Woods has been hugely successful in the past and hopes to be in the future as well. If Phil wants to be the best, then beating the man who has always been considered the best of this generation
of players is the only way to do so. Should Mickelson end the weekend wearing the famous green jacket once again and Woods ends up failing to make the cut or puts in a stinker of a performance, then once again Phil will be the man on the PGA Tour that everyone wants to beat. The US Masters betting suggests he can go all the way, but he will have to find something special to seal the win.
If he fails to do this and ends up losing to Woods or Westwood, he'll know that he will once again have a really tough battle on his hands to prove toboth pundits and golf fans that he is the man who can take golf to the next
level and change his legacy from that of perennial number two to the man who cemented the end of Tiger Woods' reign at the top of the golfing world.
