York offers the finest blend of high quality sporting action, complemented by outstanding facilities – including the new £20 million Ebor Stand, which opened in May 2003. York stages 15 days of top drawer Flat racing each year, including the Ebor Festival which takes place over three days in August.

There are Tote and bookmaker facilities in all areas with a full betting shop available to County Stand or Grandstand & Paddock Customers.

There is plenty of free car parking

Children:
Children aged 16 and under can enter for free when accompanied by an adult.

Disabled:
York operates to the equality of access standard and so has a range of facilities for the disabled, contact the course for further details.

COUNTY STAND

Tickets:
Tickets: £27- £49 (£30 - £35 for the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival).

Food And Drink:
The Gimcrack Restaurant is a traditional restaurant serving 3 course lunch and afternoon tea. There’s a table d’hôte menu for under £20 per person, 12 noon ‘til 2.30pm. Alcoves has a cosy atmosphere with a selection of cheeses, pâtés and lighter bites. The relaxed piazza style of the Ebor Bistro on the ground floor eatery was a great success in its first year and offers the chance to enjoy a coffee with a cake or perhaps a reviving bowl of chilli (£4.95), without needing to leave the Ebor Stand or miss out on a race as giant screens are at hand. The Seafood Buffet is located on the fifth floor of the Ebor Stand, the delicacies on offer have already found favour with regular racegoers.

Viewing:
In the new Ebor Stand and the traditional steppings to the side of it you cannot get better views of the racing. The Club badge provides access to all the course facilities. There are lawns and terraces to view from as well as the balconies and restaurants

Dress:
Racegoers like to make coming to York a special occasion and dress accordingly. Gentlemen must wear a jacket and tie and many ladies choose to wear a hat although it is not obligatory.

GRANDSTAND & PADDOCK

Tickets:
£12- £25 (£15 - £20 for the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival).

Food And Drink:
Knavesmire: A ‘self-service’ style café offering a wide menu choice at attractive prices, e.g. hot meal of the day £5, sandwich choice £1.75. A range of tasty snacks to take away is available including a cheeseburger (£2.70) and ham sandwich (£1.80).

Viewing:
The Knavesmire stand offers views of the racing and access to the Paddock and lawns.

Dress:
There is no dress code but for the May and Ebor Meetings generally people dress up. Racegoers are required to dress decently

There are a variety of bars and takeaway facilities to catch a bite to eat from.

Viewing:
Although the most informal area the views of the finish from the centre of the course are still good and many racegoers also watch on the giant screens. There is no stand nor any access to the Parade Ring or Winner’s Enclosure

Directions:	By Road: York racecourse is just outside the city of York with good motorway links on the M1 and A1. Once near the city, from the south, east and west the A64 and A1036 are the roads to follow. From the north, use the A19 and A59, then the York Ring Road to avoid the city centre. By Rail: York Station on the main east coast line is a mile from the course. London Kings Cross is just 1 hr 50 minutes away, with Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham also direct. Regular buses link with the track. Railway Station: York Railway Station 1.2 miles (2 km) Airport: Leeds And Bradford 23.6 miles (38 km) By Air: Light aircraft can land at nearby Rufforth, 6 miles away. Helicopters access to the course are permitted by prior arrangement. Leeds/Bradford, Teeside and Manchester airports are between 60 and 90 minutes away.
