Wakefield -30.5 v Barrow 3pts@1.9
with centrebet
I've received the Barrow team and they have a few injury problems with
Bower, McDermott, Hughes and Raftery out and Finch cup-tied. Their bench
is very weak and includes kids who aren't even up to National League 2
standard at the moment and they are thrown in against a Super League
outfit. Wakefield have Drew and Sculthorpe returning and they are very
much an in-form team. They put 50pts on Castleford last week and with the
sun shining and the ground firm it will be a very big ask for Barrow to
compete. They have their eye on the league campaign and I expect their
better players to be withdrawn if the going gets tough and so enter the
kids. Originally I had my mark around the 30pts offered but the team news
changes things...

Wigan -32 v Whitehaven
3pts@1.91 with bet365
Wigan will be licking their wounds after their big defeat against
St.Helens and there's now no chance that they won't be focussed on this
cup clash. Whitehaven will feel the backlash and I expect Wigan to run
up a big score. The improved weather has made the grounds firmer and
this is will be a factor with the pace of the Super League team.
Whitehaven aren't the best of travellers even within their own league
and they'll have to play very well to stay within the 32pts. I had this
one as Wigan by 40pts.
York +8 v Swinton 3pts@1.91 with
bet365
York have disappointed in the main this season. They brought in rookie
coach March from Super League and with him a few signings but they
haven't really got going. However, in their last couple of games I sense
that things are starting to improve. A very big win at Blackpool and a
competitive performance against leaders Doncaster suggest that their
lowly position is false. They have won only one in six games but have
managed to pick up a losing bonus point in four of those defeats which
suggests they aren't too far away. If they lose it's usually a close
one. Swinton are a team of similar ability and normally home advantage
would dictate that they would be around 6pt favourites but they have a
mountain of injuries and for that reason I've handicapped this one about
scratch, the 8pts start makes this a very decent wager.
