Trading Room Event: England v South Africa; 3rd Sep 2008, Live on Sky Sports 1 from 14:00
Paul Seaborne will be trading the 5th One Day International between England and South Africa. Paul will be starting with a trading bank of 100 points.
Hello everyone and welcome to the final One Day fixture between these two countries. It had been one way traffic so far for England, as they have cruised to a 4-0 lead.
Should they win today, England will go 2nd in the World Rankings.
The fixture is to be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, and there has been plenty of talk of the heavy rain which has fallen in the last 24 hours, and alas, there is more forecast, but we will keep our fingers crossed for some fine weather and a good trading game.
Team news and toss results will appear here as they happen, from around 14:00 onwards.
--------------
14:00
Unfortunately as expected there is a delay to the scheduled start of 14:30 due to a wet outfield. I have a feeling this is going to be fairly lengthy as the drainage at Sophia Gardens isn't the best.
--------------
14:40 Update: Unfortunately it has started raining in Cardiff, so there is little we can do but wait. Put the kettle on, and relax.
In the meantime, why not have a read of my article covering all this weeks events in cricket, which can be found on the front page.
Also, why not have a read of our forum? And if you're feeling exceptionally adventurous, you could even post on there.
--------------
15:45 I'm afraid it's looking a bit bleak out there - it did stop for a bit, but that just highlighted how wet the outfield is. Then it started raining again.
Jenga anyone?
---------------
16:20 - Hellelujah! We have a game. England have won the toss and decided to bowl first. We are going to have a 43 over game. Which should finish about 4am.
Current prices on the exchanges are
Eng 1.47
South Africa 3.2
England are a bit too low at that price for a shortened game, so we will lay that as an opening position.
1st Bet. 30 point liability lay of England at 1.47
----------------
16:40
South Africa lose Gibbs thanks to a marvellous effort from Matt Prior behind the stumps. Think we'll have another little lay of England here, there is rain about and anything could happen here under lights on a damp murky evening.
2nd Bet. 10 point liability lay of England at 1.34
---------------
16:45
And just as we enter that bet - the rains return.
Match State: South Africa 6/1 off 3 overs. Delay: Rain.
---------------
17:50 - It's raining. But Hollyoaks is on in a minute.
-------
18:20 - There is a pitch inspection at 18:40
-----
19:00 - Match abandoned - all bets void. England win the series 4-0
