Trading Room Event: Leeds Rhinos v's Wigan Warriors Super League Play Off @ Headingley 8.00PM KO

Leeds Rhinos v's Wigan Warriors Super League Play Off @ Headingley 8.00PM KO
Published: 26 Sep 08, By

The Postman will be trading the Leeds Rhinos v's Wigan Warriors Super League game at 8pm on 26/09/08. Postie will be trading with 100 points starting bank.

Evening folks. Making my belated debut in the Trading Room so go easy on me please. A few events in recent weeks have convinced me to have a go at a live trading event, mainly the emergence of a fearless draw layer on the betfair site. In the past few weeks someone has changed the face of Super League outright markets by laying the draw to liabilities in excess of 250,000 pounds. The person/people responsible for this has creatively been named "the big draw layer" by the Betfair Rugby Forums most active members and has so far put a new spin on these in-running markets. The main issue is not the sums of the liabilty but at what prices he is willing to lay at, frequently going to as big as 59/1 in recent weeks.

My aim tonight is to set up a position for us to mainly trade some healthy green on the draw but to obviously predict how the markets and game is going to go when we go in play. To start off with i am going to recommend a 20 pt lay of Leeds at 1.34. The Rhino's have not really performed to their best of late and the performance against Saints was particularly disappointing, looking completely toothless in attack and overall rather jaded. The extended turn around should help Leeds in the long run but i fully expect Wigan to come out all guns blazing and with key men like Hock, Leuluai, Higham and most importantly Trent Barrett all on song at present Leeds should be available at bigger than the skinny odds on offer at present.

So 20 pts lay of Leeds at 1.34

and a 10 pts back of the draw at 60

leave them till kick off and hopefully we should be matched.

Not ideal that Wigan stuck on the bus but both our bets are matched so lets sit back and keep your fingers crossed.

Plan is to chip away and milk the draw for all we can. First lay is 2 pts @ 50 on the draw

8.08pm
Not a great start from Wigan, Calderwood losing a good position with some braindead play. Lets put a 10pts back of Leeds at 1.6 in.

8.16pm
Draw not contracting in the way i hoped seen as its 0-0 after 15 mins but we will have to be patient. Wigan certainly not making the most of these chances and will need to do so if they going to take this. Mathers is looking a real cause for concern.

8.22pm
Right so we can't complain that this isn't exciting. Best rumble we seen in a while. Both sides with 12 now so we shall see what happens from here. The 1.60 just been taken and at 2-0 the draw isn't in a bad position.

8.36pm
The 2 pt lay at 50 has been taken and at 2-2 we are in a good position so far. Long way to go and game looks sure to open up soon.

Enter a 2pt lay of the draw at 42

8.44pm HT
Well amazingly we are in pretty much the same position as when we started with only the draw any shorter. We are green on Wigan and very, very green on the draw. Shifted a little liability on Leeds at what was a very good time. Wigan have had their chances, lets hope they don't rue those and make amends in the second half.

9.04pm
Well Wigan starting where they left off, bombing another chance and them almost letting Leeds in. Calderwood doing a heck of a job of redeeming himself for his earlier mistake.

Time has come to try and get rid of some more draw. 2pt lay of the draw at 38

9.11pm

Mark has now not only redeemed himself but made him my MOM. Yes it's premmature but having single handedly kept Wigan in contention he deserves it.

Keep hold of the 38 bet

9.26
Cancel the lay at 38 and put one in for 4 at 40. Wigan on racks big time.

9.28

Too slow im afraid. Hint of a forward pass in that move but can't say it isn't deserved. Just gotta hope now as we ain't going to be doing much until a Wigan try. Unfortunately they are tiring badly.

9.44pm

Right here we go.

Lay off another 2 pts at 30 if possible

9.48pm

Should have got that just in time. Wigan don't deserve victory in fairness and we havn't had a nightmare evening and had Wigan been able to catch we could have had alot of fun here.

9.54pm
Maybe another time. Was always going to be tight and the draw price was indeed wrong. Unfortunately we couldnt quite make it workout.
