I think your logic is correct generally and that certainly proved to be the case with both NZ and France last weekend. I just felt that Samoa would have wanted to lay down a marker in their first game with the confidence gained from their recent win over Australia. They also had a very decent bench with players all aiming to make an impression, which reduced the chance of them easing off once the victory was in the bag.

Hi! For Rugby Cup, just my personal opinion, but wouldn't it be better to take handicaps on underdogs? I don't think favorites would want to destroy weaker opponents by 30-40 point margins. I just don't see why they should waste energy when they are already leading by 15-20 points. Isn't it better to keep it for games against serious opponents?
